Rainbow Skittle Jello Shots

I thought I’d share this little beauty with you:

Rainbow Skittle Vodka Jello Shots

They look awesome right? I made them a couple of months ago :D You could layer only the red and green ones for your Christmas party! Everyone (except maybe the sober drivers) will love you for them.

I started out trying to make a tutorial on how to make these, but it just depends so much on how intense you want the flavor, the level of alcohol, and the gelatine you’re using that it got a bit complex and I threw it out the window. Basically, if you know how to make skittle vodka, and how to make jello shots, you basically know how to make these (except you use unflavored gelatin instead of normal jello).

If you want to try and have any specific questions, feel free to ask!

I’ve been running a little low on browns lately, so when I was waiting for my bus yesterday, I thought I might browse around Bling and see if they had any cheap ones. I bought this one because it had the best pigmentation out of the palettes they stocked:

Quite frankly, it’s terrible!

Sure, the pigmentation is pretty good on most of the colors here (it’s somewhat lacking in the second from the left, on the top row), but it clumps like anything! I had a lot of trouble blending, and there’s quite a lot of fallout too. I ended up with almost as much on my cheeks as I did on my eyelids.

It doesn’t stay on very well either, you’ll definitely need a primer. I took some swatches for this review (which came out incredibly color-inaccurate, so I won’t show them here), and I could just wipe them off really easily with my hand. I didn’t need any tissues or makeup remover to get them completely off.

I’m pretty bummed I spent $10 (nz) on the stuff. Kleancolor is slightly better, and a lot cheaper.

Review: Clear Flase Nails

I don’t wear false nails (I shudder thinking about the damage they’ll do), but I bought this 500 piece pack of clear ones so I can swatch colors and practice nail art on them:

Makeover!

Hello folks! Notice anything different?  Or maybe a better question would be “Recognize anything?”

During my huge hiatus (which my art is also suffering from), I decided my blog needed a better name. So when I was thinking about how much “Lacquer” sounded like “Liquor” the other day, I figured a terrible pun was an improvement over the vagueness of “speckled egg” . A complete redesign followed suit, and here we are.

In addition, I’ve made a facebook page for this blog, as well as a twitter and tumblr. I have doubts over how successful these will be, but it seemed better than linking to my personal accounts which are cluttered with junk from all corners of my life. Anyway, time will tell!

Coming up: I’ve got several new things to review, as well as the stuff from before my hiatus, so these should be up when I finish my exams. Or earlier, depending on how much I procrastinate.

Ciao!

Kleancolor is a brand I’ve been wanting to try, but couldn’t find in stores. And because of it’s such a  cheap brand, I’d end up spending as much on shipping fees if I bought it online, which just made me feel silly. So I was really excited when one of the Asian stores in the mall started stocking it!

They had (among other bits and bobs) 3 different eyeshadow palettes. I grabbed the purple and green one, but I might end up buying the other two as well.

Yaaay more stamping! I was in a bit of a rush when I did the base, so unfortunately it’s a bit messy. (And my nail broke, so I had to cut them all super-short :( )

For this, I used the Sally Hansen Hardener as the base coat, followed by O.P.I. Gargantuan Green Grape, stamped with Orly It’s Up To Blue (using this plate from BornPretty), and finished up with Rimmel’s matte top coat.

This isn’t a design I would ordinarily use a matte top coat with, but I just bought it (my first one!) and couldn’t resist trying it out. I really love the brush on this thing, so I’ll probably write a review later.

These stripes lasted me an entire week without chipping!
